Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS) is a global non-profit organization in the Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC, and is committed to promoting sustainable cities and human settlements for all. Former Under-Secretary-General and High Representative of the UN Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury serves as the Chairman of GFHS.

Our sustained climate actions include:

  • Holding the annual global forum on human settlements and relevant capacity-building events to support local governments and players in achieving inclusive, healthy, resilient, and carbon-neutral cities.
  • Implementing “International Green Model City (IGMC)” initiative and standards to create global pilot demonstration areas of carbon neutrality.
  • Promoting sustainable development innovations and practices to scale up solutions for a sustainability transition.
  • Enhancing cooperation at the local, regional and global levels to accelerate transformation and actions towards sustainable cities and human settlements.
