COP26 Communiqué Signatory:
National Institute of Building Sciences
Since its 1974 inception by Congress, the National Institute of Building Sciences has worked with federal agencies and industry partners to create tools, standards, and guidelines that enable the reduction of carbon emissions. NIBS provides a multidisciplinary and open platform for the sharing of best practices, from curating continuing education energy programs to the holistic view of building life cycles, starting with design and construction to maintenance and operations, to the innovation of new technologies, materials, and design practices. NIBS was instrumental in the initiative to define “Net Zero Energy Building,” which helps focus building owners on approaching energy management.
